Echo, performance Lieu Thi Le (PAS X Studio K)

Inspired by the ever-changing nature of existence, Le's textile sculptures undergo a transformative journey. Time-consuming, yet meditative, each piece has taken hours to sculpt. Utilizing the ancient Japanese shibori technique, she intricately ties hundreds of stones found in her daily nearby surroundings, infusing them with the element of earth. In the performance, these sculptures breathe, moved by human gentle touch. Each stitch and stone hums with life, inviting the audience to listen to the whispered echoes they release, harmonizing with the space.

Lieu Thi Le is a interdisciplinary artist based in Oslo. Her work spans the fields of clothing, materiality, and performance. In spring 2024, she graduated from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts with a Master's in Design, specializing in Clothing and Costume. Her creations delve into her Vietnamese heritage, interwoven with influences from Nordic and Asian cultures. Central to her work are the nuances of yellow, which narrate her personal journey of identity, belonging, and spirituality. Her artistic research focuses on the interconnection between materiality, the body, and movement, with nature serving as a profound source of inspiration. Through performance, she invites audiences into her world to witness materiality and body transforming from one form to another.

Since the beginning of 2022, PAS and Studio K have collaborated to create opportunities to gather around performance art. The format has included Open Sessions, interactive performances, and performative exhibitions. We are continuing the collaboration and has now selected a new artist through the recent open call. This selected performance will be shown at Studio 17's premises on Friday, 4th of October, 2024.

Address: Øvre Strandgate 66, 4005 Stavanger (Studio17)
Time: 4th of October, 19.00-21.00.
