MINNEARBEID (MEMORY WORK), exhibition Kari Ann Lending Kleiveland

”My memories are in my body, archived in my skin, my cells, my senses. I try to remember. I see the colors. I carry paintings in my body.

My body remembers like the canvas remembers me painting a line upon it.  Although the strokes, the marks, the lines, may fade with time, the actions and experiences will still be found in the history of the material - the body of the painting, the body of me. Eventually there will be layers of experiences, of movements. I explore how the medium of painting can be a tool for both recalling and recording memories, interested in how the act of painting can be a performance of remembrance. The painting itself becomes a document of memories and a materialization of the ephemeral.”
